A COMA ALPENC REFERENCIAL
The Occitan languages together features a great difference and even incomprehension between various dialects. The Occitan of the valleys has particular phonetic features which are inspired by the speech of the North incorporating numerous local variants. A reference variant is therefore necessary in the Alpine environment which takes into account its particular aspects, whilst at the same time binding it under a single Occitan linguistic unit. This reference variety is essential in environments in which the local dialect is rather inadequate, for use in manuals, administrative texts, formula documents and articles and for all documents in Occitan destined for the populations of the valleys and the entire Occitan area.
