Eygalieres - Saint Sixte Chapel
A HIDDEN TREASURE
This chapel located at a height of 1550 m. to the south west of the village, is situated on a high plain not far from the ancient Gallic-Roman “domaine” which was established in the area thanks to its limpid waters. A pagan stele, dedicated to the healing waters, served for a long time as a holy water stoup.
This tiny chapel of Saint-Sixte in Eygalieres, in all its moving simplicity, awaits the visitor curious to discover “a hidden treasure in the Provence lands”. One of the most important pilgrimages in Provence takes place here every Easter Tuesday.
