Saint German de Cesseras - Aude

IN AN AROMATIC PINE FORESTS
This tiny architectural jewel set amongst aromatic pine forests, with the only sound being that of the cicada, dates back to the early Romanesque era and provides a true invitation to prayer. Of very basic form, decorative effects being concentrated in the arches and Lombard pilaster strips of the apse, and limited relief of a symbolic nature, with an alternating colour scheme (in black and white). A studied asymmetry enhances this small building and is paradoxically a further measure of its perfection. A place which provides a reminder of the beauty of creation.
